Villamartin Golf – A Premier Destination with Timeless Appeal

Villamartin Golf Club, located in the picturesque Orihuela Costa region of Spain’s Costa Blanca, has been a premier destination for golf enthusiasts since its establishment in 1972. Designed by the renowned architect John Puttman, the course is celebrated for its unique layout, where no two holes are alike, providing golfers with a fresh and challenging experience on every round.

A Championship Course with Spectacular Views

The par-72 course stretches over 6,132 meters from the white tees, featuring a diverse range of terrains, including undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and stunning water hazards. The front nine holes are situated at the highest point of the course, offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, while the back nine descend into lush valleys surrounded by mature vegetation.

One of the most iconic holes is the 17th, a par-three that requires players to navigate a wooded ravine to reach a generous two-tiered green, exemplifying the course’s challenging yet rewarding design.

Rich Tournament History and Golfing Legends

Villamartin’s rich history includes hosting the 1994 Mediterranean Open, where golfing legends such as José María Olazábal, who won after an exciting play-off with Paul McGinley, graced its fairways.

In the 2023 X Pro-Am Memorial Antonio Pedrer Soler at Villamartín Golf Club, the team led by legendary Spanish golfer Miguel Ángel Jiménez secured first place. The team led by José Antonio Buendía, which I was a proud member of, achieved an impressive second-place finish in this prestigious tournament.

In 2024, I secured third place in the 2024 Orihuela Costa Trophy tournament at Villamartín Golf Club, an annual Stableford competition that attracts golfers from various regions. The event is known for its vibrant atmosphere and competitive spirit.
